South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes met with Brain Tumour Research to discuss the need for further funding into research for brain tumours, which kill more people under the age of 40 than any other type of cancer.
Historically, just 1% of national spending on cancer research has been allocated to this brain tumours, despite its disproportionate impact on the youngest in our society who have the best parts of their lives ahead of them.
The President of the Lincolnshire brain tumour support group, Sir John Hayes MP, said: “It was a constructive meeting with Brain Tumour Research, but it is saddening that more children and younger adults under the age of 40 than are killed by brain tumours than any other cancer. That is why we must work to increase funding for research into this terrible condition that affects too many people – young and old – each year. Together, we can find a way to beat brain tumours.”
